Crisis support

This page is public — no account or sign-in needed.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number). The lines below are free, confidential, and available 24/7.

You don't have to handle this alone. Reaching out to a trained person is a sign of strength, not weakness. Tap any option below to call or text right now.

How Dignity responds

The coach is an AI, not a person. Every reply in Dignity's coach is generated by an AI model. It is not a clinician, a counselor, or a crisis worker, and it will tell you so if you ask.

If someone expresses self-harm or suicidal thoughts, the coach is instructed to acknowledge what they said warmly, say it is good they shared it, give the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988), and encourage them to reach out to someone they trust. It does not end the conversation abruptly.

If someone describes being hurt, abused, or unsafe, the coach acknowledges it, says plainly that it is not their fault, encourages them to tell a trusted adult, and gives the Childhelp Hotline (1-800-422-4453) and 988. If someone is in danger right now, it points to 911.

The coach does not diagnose or treat. It will not name a disorder someone has, and it will not advise anyone to start, stop, or change a medication. Those questions go to a doctor or licensed professional.

Dignity is not an emergency service and does not monitor conversations in real time. Nobody at Dignity is watching the coach as you type, and a message sent to the coach does not alert a human being. If you need someone now, use one of the lines above.

For people under 18

Dignity asks for a date of birth when an account is created. Accounts are not available to anyone under 13.

For users aged 13 to 17, the coach applies additional safeguards on top of everything above:

  • It keeps its language simple and concrete.
  • It does not discuss sexual content, substances, or dieting.
  • It encourages involving a parent, guardian, counselor, or another trusted adult.
  • The crisis and abuse responses above stay at full strength.

The app also shows a reminder that the coach is an AI and may not be suitable for everyone, and prompts a break during long unbroken sessions.

Report a concern

If the coach said something that worries you, or you have a safety concern about how Dignity behaved, tell us at app@dignity-inc.com. Include roughly when it happened so we can find it.

This inbox is not monitored around the clock and is not a way to get help in a crisis. For that, use the lines above.
